Game of Diggers, Beta Access and Dev updates

Greetings Gold Diggers!

Please allow us to start this update by thanking you for your continued patience and support. At the same time, please accept our apologies for starting a program like Game of Diggers without making sure that the software is thoroughly ready for such an event.

We have learned much from this experience and we have made changes to our workflow which gives us a lot of confidence about future releases.

We would like to thank all the beta testers for their help and we would like to announce that we are working on a recruitment program for support and in-game help. Additionally, our game design team will be more involved in the testing processes going forward.

What is the Status of GoD?

The scanning of the participants has finished and the base reward per quest has been set. Expect a follow up email with additional information as well as test net NFTs in your game wallets based on the agreed upon tiers.

The Game of Diggers program will end according to the initial date, the prizes will remain the same, however we might need to adjust the playable weeks based on the number of qualified NGL holders.

This next bit will come as great news to anyone looking to get a head start in learning the game or players who plan to play the game for their audience!

Once GoD is released, Beta Access will be given to anyone holding 500 NGL in their wallets. Optionally they will receive testnet JULs, NGLs, NFT’s, without any bug hunting or feedback obligations. Pure learning.

Technical advances

Feature progress

Many important features have either been completed or are close to completion.

• Adding NFT management by a 3rd party — DONE — You can add any other wallet to manage your building.
• Gas Station — DONE — No fees, no headaches. Works so smoothly, you don’t even know you are in a crypto game.
• Collateral contract — DONE — after several iterations the crypto part is finally done and the UI is the only thing left.
• We are working on some optimizations for the linux servers (until now we worked on Windows servers). Together with the change of navigation from dynamic to static, this should allow for much smoother gameplay.
• Mining Claims, the most important feature and loop of this game, are being finished. Entering/Exiting(on purpose or death) Arena, Queueing and Gold extraction are being tested as we speak. Some nasty bugs in there, but as this feature is of high priority for us, we expect to make quick progress.
• Exchanging extracted Gold nuggets and flakes for NGL works, but we encountered some issues which are being addressed.
• In order to improve scalability, we are revamping the backend infrastructure code of the game, as well as migrating from DynamoDB to MongoDB.

Bug Fixes

In this area, we are tackling the most severe issues first, here are some that are actively being worked on:

• Dead animals can be added back to the stable like they never died
• Cutting off a corpse doesn’t give anything and makes the body despawn
• Carrying bodies causes a visual glitch.
• Climbing some trees obscures the animals beneath the player
• Inventory not showing items correctly
• Some quests from day 2 are automatically registered as failed.
• Clipping issues while performing assassination from trees and riding on ticketed transport.
